<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">BANGALORE: Infosys careened into another pothole, as Sanjay Joshi its chief marketing officer for 14 months tendered his resignation on Wednesday.<br />He will join Wipro, where he will help oversee the company''s recent foray into the high growth back-office services sector, a Wipro spokeswoman said on Friday.<br />"Sanjay Joshi has accepted an offer to join Wipro as chief executive, business process outsourcing," she said.<br />‘‘Yes, he has quit due to his own personal and professional reasons.
Phaneesh Murthy’s exit has got nothing to do with Joshi’s departure. They are two totally unrelated events. This development will not impact our operations in any way,’’ Nandan Nilekani, CEO of Infosys told <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">The Times of India</span>.<br />Joshi reported to director and head (sales and marketing) Phaneesh Murthy who quit under controversial circumstances recently, before being replaced by Kris Gopalakrishnan, deputy managing director of the company.<br />Joshi was responsible for Infy’s worldwide marketing operations and was considered crucial to Infy Plus, the company’s ambitious programme to elevate the company to the multi-billion dollar league in about 5-6 years.<br />Since the last two years Infosys’ growth was powered by the general buoyancy in the IT industry, during this time the focus was really on managing for scalability. But with the technology downturn dawned new truths, and Infosys is determined to address them through Infy Plus.<br />Prior to joining Infosys, Joshi, an MBA from Kelogg Graduate School of Management, an MS in Computer Science from Penn State, and a B.Tech in computer science, was the head of sales and marketing at Freightwise, an Internet business-to-business startup in Dallas. <br />Joshi was a management consultant for over six years with the reputed McKinsey & Company. When contacted by this newspaper, Sanjay Joshi preferred not to comment on his resignation. </div> </div>
